Another great and busy independence day in Warren
5am setup comes early in summer, especially on the 4th of July. But this year, like others past, went off with very few hitches and it seemed that all involved had a wonderful time. Yes a few cars got stuck in the banks, a vendor took it upon themselves to reorganize our efforts, and the parade had a few wheels fall off, literally.
All in all, it was just another spectacular Warren 4th marked in the history books. The parade had what appeared to be a record number of entries, eclectic as ever! The Green Mountain Boys took a double take on the village with a northern run up main street and a sharp screaming bank over Sugarbush with another northeast run ending in a full on afterburning vertical climb into the clouds. Jimmy Yozell and his merry gang of musicians played a fantastic 3 1/2 hrs on the Warren Store, the Mad Mountain Scramblers entertained the crowd on Brooks Field.
I would like to thank everyone who made this 4th so special, from Clive and his 'double-take' cannon shot declaring "We will not sacrifice our liberty" to the Fife & Drum Corp, the Warren, WaitsfieldFayston & Moretown fire departments, WDEV, the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Warren Town office crew, the Warren Road Crew, LW Greenwood, almost all of the vendors, the residents of Warren Village, and all the parade entries and all of you who showed up to celebrate our freedom and opportunity signed into history by 56 statesmen 230 years ago yesterday. It's your parade and by god, you made 2006 a great one!
